Case Study 1
Client:
Ambulatory Surgery Center with over 60 physicians on staff and surgical specialties
including:
- Orthopedic
- General
- Plastic
- Gastrointestinal
- Gynecology
- Otolaryngology
- Pain management
- Ophthalmologic
- Urology
- Podiatry
- Peripheral vascular
Issue:
The staff was spending a significant amount of time
copying and faxing patient records to primary care physicians. The client
was experiencing a lack of productivity while staff manually searched patient
files for appropriate documents causing a significant delay on the part of
the primary care physician who was waiting for the patient information and
because of the number of copies that were being made costs such as copy paper
and toner continued to rise.
Engagement:
Paradym designed and implemented a document imaging
solution utilizing a Fujitsu scanner, an IBM workstation and indexing software. Pertinent
patient records are scanned and indexed daily. When information is requested
by primary care physicians, documents can be quickly searched and e-mailed
rather than faxed to the appropriate party. The solution resulted not
only in an increase in staff productivity and response time to information
requests but the client realized thousands of dollars in direct cost savings
as a result of the reduction in the use of copiers and fax machines.

Case Study 2
Client:
Juvenile court system and detention center.
Issue:
The client uses over sixty forms throughout
the juvenile court system and detention center. Most of the information contained in these
forms was duplicative (i.e.. name, address, etc.). Completion of the
various forms was a very time consuming and inefficient process. The
information contained in the various forms needs to be available to other offices
and agencies which required circulation of numerous paper copies costing thousands
of dollars each month in printing, copying and distribution.
Engagement:
Paradym developed electronic forms
which link to a central database. All
forms are now completed electronically. Duplicative information such
as name and address only need to be entered once and the information is populated
throughout all applicable forms. Electronic signature pads are used to
capture digital signatures which are imbedded and encrypted on the documents. The
completed forms are then linked to the master database making them readily
available throughout the juvenile justice system. Copies of the forms
are now sent to other agencies and offices electronically. This solutions
saved the juvenile court over $150,000 per year.
